Just like Grand Theft Auto, you can create your very own empire. Best of all, you don’t have to buy a $500 Flight Suit NFT to do it! Can this new partnership with Magic Eden really put the power back into the hands of gamers? Or, will it just benefit the project developers and the marketplace?

The potential for exploitation is lurking. Are we at the beginning of pay-to-win online games on steroids? Will our upcoming devices actually be necessary to make sure we’re moving with purpose? This would be essentially creating a false scarcity, compelling players to spend insane amounts of money just to keep up. Consider the total nonsense if you were required to own a “Power Core” NFT to even compete in their game. It’s not even about making your play experience better! That’s not innovation; that’s extortion with a digital gloss.

This can’t just be chalked up to the gaming community; it’s a symptom of a much larger societal problem. Are we building a new two-tiered reality where access to a future of opportunity is wholly dependent on the size of your digital wallet?

Let's not forget the environmental impact. Although Solana is more energy-efficient than Ethereum, NFTs continue to add to the carbon impact of blockchain technology.
